Don:

I am prepared to come to Chicago, or to any place nearby anytime during the month's of late July, or August 2003, as we have discussed so we can sit together with those who are really interested in reviewing the proposed 2005 NEC changes.

The purpose of this meeting will be to develop comments on proposals to be submitted to the code panels.

Joe,
Anywhere with in a 3 or 4 hour drive time from Chicago area would be fine with me. Maybe a smaller city would be less expensive than Chicago. Many of us work M-F, so it might be best if we started on a Friday morning and finished early Sunday afternoon. Lets see who is interested and maybe someone will have a good suggestion as to the location and hotel. If we book 8 to 12 rooms, will a hotel let us use a conference room without additional expense?
Don
OK Don, Thanks Good Idea!

All Members:

Anyone who wants a copy of the current report with the most important proposed 2005 NEC changes can get a copy from me or from Dave.

Dave will set up a link for us to that information.

This report will give you some idea of what will be discussed at this meeting.

I would like to see others from this board who are really interested in seeing good code, and without fanfare and politics included.

As a team we can make a difference if we all agree and send in a comment for or against the change.

Here's an example:

Quote
Proposal 1-122: Add Definition of
“Neutral Conductor”
Neutral Conductor. A conductor, other than a grounding conductor, that is connected to the common point of a wye connection in a polyphase system or the point of a symmetrical system which is normally at zero voltage.

Do you agree or disagree?

Thank you for your consideration!!

I think the ne "Neutral Conductor" definiton is acceptable and will settle disputes around the country and even on this board too!
Joe,
While I most heartedly agree on the need for a definition of neutral, and it sure has been a long time coming, I think you need to change one word in it to make it palatable.

The word "normally" I think you should change to "nominally". While the neutral in theory carries no voltage, I have not seen one yet that was 0 volts in operation. I think normally allows for a lot of area for misinterpretation on behalf of combination inspectors.

Never mind!
Thanks,

George:

You should submit a public comment and support the reason why.

While it would be cost prohibitive for me to attend, I would be interested in a live chat via the internet if one could be set up. Is this at all possible?

Rick Miell
Rick:

Live chat will probably not be possible during our meeting, but the report will be made available to anyone who wants to join in and submit comments.

The meeting will be held in mid-August.

Joe: This is a great idea, and I wish I could participate. I am still not completely recovered from pneumonia, and the expense would be onerous. I hope you will publish the results of the conference for those of us who cannot attend. Best regards, Creighton
Creighton:

Yes, we will publish this information and make it available, and you will be the first to see the report. Your remarks and comments will be very important to us!
