Can anyone tell me the how far from a bathroom shower a bank of switches can be located. This is a stall shower with a shower curtain and rod? Is there a defined distance in the code? Is there an area where no switch is allowed period? Is it required to be GFCI protected? These switches will be for a timer/heater, timer/fan, and overhead general lighting that will include a shower fixture. Total of three.

Fan/heater mentioned: (1999)
410-4(d) - bathtub/shower areas - keep the fixture(s)out of a zone 8 ft. above and 3 ft. out from tubs/showers.

This applies to fixtures only - not the switches...switches can be right next to the tub/shower.

380-4 - Wet Locations - Switches shall not be installed within wet locations in tub or shower spaces unless installed as part of a listed tub or shower assembly.

GFCI - not required but sure is a good idea.

Switches can't be within the shower or tub space. That's it.
