Does a residential boat house that is 20-30 feet off shore have to have its own ground rod driven in the ground on the shore and a GEC run from the ground rod to the panel on the boat house? Should (2)hots, (1)neutral and (1)equipment ground be run for the service panel to the boat house panel even though its run in PVC(120/240v single phase installation)or just (2)hots and a ground?
Any information relating to residential boat houses would be much appreciated.

shadow_tx,

Any structure apart from the main structure housing the main distribution panel will be required to have a grounding electrode(s) unless it is fed with a single circuit that has an equipment ground as well as a grounded conductor.

See 250.32

Article 555 should cover any extra requirements aside from the rest of the NEC.
