Commercial office building, 7 stories above grade, in NY State. Follows the 1999 NEC. What are the restrictions to this installation. Does it follow the NM article restricting this to buildings at or below 3 stories and the support paragraph? If not, how many feet bewtween support of the cable is required?

Ron,
Have you tried searching New Yorks code online?
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/html/code.html

OOOPS--That link is for NY city.

The New York State code follows the IBC and NFPA 70 1999.

Ron,

Here in Ohio, we pretty much go by the National Fire Code. We also need to be licensed, submit plans and pull permit to add or modify systems.

Is NY the same?

Dave

Permit and plans are the same. NY State follows NFPA 72 for Fire Alarm Code.
