While installing circuits in a ceiling of a commerical building I was told I have to remove all the abandon wiring in the ceiling. There is a lot of old wire. Is there any NEC code that requires this? Boomer

Unless they are tagged for future use, I believe they do have to come down.there are NEC regulations concerning abandoned wire.

Is this a building renovation or are you just adding a few circuits?

The "remove or tag" rule only appears in Chapter 7 and 8 Articles. At this time there is no rule to "remove or tag" Chapter 3 wiring. It is a good practice to remove the
abandoned wiring, and is often required by the job specs.
