Installing outlets in a parking garage. Is there a standard for this as to the location. These will be wall mounted and will be used for maintenance purposes within a secured area. Also do they need to be GFI, currently plan to install all on one circuit NEMA 1.
Need comments.

Vehicle maintenance. If the spec states that the outlets be GFI with weatherproof covers within public spaces, and this is considered secured (police vehicles only), then is there an arguement for that this is "not a public space"?

That will have to be an Article 511 installation. 511-10 requires GFCI protection for any receptacles that will be used for portable repair and diagonstic equipment. You will also have to deal with Class 1 Division 2 locations, maybe even Division 1 if there is a pit. If it is a wet location then weatherproof covers will be required. The specs for the job may exceed the NEC requirements and must be complied with per the contract. They are not enforcable by the electrical inspector, but are enforcable in civil court.

thanks, I had been arguing that we needed however, kept receiving response that since it was considered "secured" and not "public", we did not need to comply.
