I am bidding on a development. The utility is going to provide a meter bank at a cul-de-sac.

All homes will be supplied via a lateral. I am reading 230-70(a)

I am not used to seeing a residence without some external indication of the utility entry, so this seems strange..

any comments ??

I think 230-70 (b) has the answer. Maybe? But like you that would baffle me for a while, not normal.

Whats worse is utilities are allowed to get away with murder against code. Not you and me!

It would seem that much of 230's intent is based on an emergency situation where location of a main(s) is needed.

This seems conflicting.

However 225-32 parrallels this, possibly i am just to fixated on a meter....

Are mobile homes considered residences?

Dspark, yeah I was thinking the same (mobile homes) when I read Sparky's post. Around here that's still rare that there is no indication of entrance. But I don't think it's critical.

Update;
a utility engineer is involved! so most likley i will assume a position of being told , not figuring myself, the end result.

this is a high end retirement cul-de-sac neighborhood, no mobile homes allowed!

I will post the engineer's spec's when i receive them, if only to make a comparative anaylisis to the NEC.
