Having just adopted 2 code cycles there's a lot of stuff to absorb, and easily forgotten as well. Are the TR receps required everywhere? We are trimming a reptile enclosure in a residential back yard tomorrow, it has a work station with receps and some receps for heaters and fridge (for the reptile food). We are of course GFCI protecting everything but I am unclear on the TR requirements. This is basically a 10 x 20 shed built on a slab with a sub panel and insulated walls covered with siding on both sides. The reptiles (Iguanas) are going to be in cages with doggie doors to the outside, and as far as I know they won't be trying to stick things into the receps.

I am not sure that 210.52 requires a receptacle there so 406.12 does not seem to apply.

IMHO, no TR required. However, you may want to check with your local AHJ

Greg, what about 210.52(G)(1)accessory buildings?

I would say that the receptacles get to be TR (tamper resistant), WR (weather resistant), AND GFCI protected.

Just bought some TR / WR GFCI receptacles. $20 each. Safety is nice- but remember when you could get a duplex receptacle for half a dollar? The '90's were NOT that long ago!

Big Bob got me. That is a 2014 change I missed.

Is the reptile room private of commercial?

Sorry I meant 11. We are still on the 08.

NFPA has released the 2014 Analysis of Changes tho. The books are on the street now. ($65)
Living in a place that is always one to two cycles behind can make these things confusing.

It looks like TR for everything except the fridge and the ceiling then.

I think they really want us to use T/R for all 15 and 20a 120v receptacles.

Below is from the 2014 DRAFT...

406.12 Tamper Resistant Receptacles. [ROP 18–41a]
(A) Dwelling Units. In all areas specified in 210.52, all nonlocking-type 125-volt, 15- and 20-ampere receptacles shall be listed tamper-resistant receptacles.
(B) Guest Rooms and Guest Suites of Hotels and Motels. All nonlocking-type 125-volt, 15- and 20-ampere receptacles located in guest rooms and guest suites of hotels and motels shall be listed tamper-resistant receptacles.
(C) Child Care Facilities. In all child care facilities, all nonlocking-type 125-volt, 15- and 20-ampere receptacles shall be listed tamper-resistant receptacles.

Exception to (A), (B), and (C): Receptacles in the following locations shall not be required to be tamper-resistant:
(1) Receptacles located more than 1.7 m (5 1⁄2 ft) above the floor.
(2) Receptacles that are part of a luminaire or appliance.
(3) A single receptacle or a duplex receptacle for two appliances located within dedicated space for each appliance that, in normal use, is not easily moved from one place to another and that is cord-and-plug connected
in accordance with 400.7(A)(6), (A)(7), or (A)(8).
(4) Nongrounding receptacles used for replacements as permitted in 406.4(D)(2)(a).

I only carry TR receptacles on my truck these days...

The final text of the 2014 NEC reads exactly the way that shortcircuit posted for 406.12.

I don't see any different wording in the 2014 that's not in the 2011. 406.13 and 406.14 in the 2011 are moved under 406.12 as (B) and (C) in the 2014, word for word.

Yep.
They took out the reference to 'dwelling units' in the Section heading and added 'hotels and motels' to 406.12B and moved a few things around.
Other than that it's the same as it was in 2011.
