Can anyone clear this up? Section 200.6(A)states that the grounded conductor must be identified continuous. If you read further to 200.7(A)(3)states you can identify at terminations. This contradicts itself. Any help please.

200.6(A) applies to conductors #6 and smaller. 200.6(B) applies to conductors #4 and larger and 200.7(A)(3) would apply to conductors that are field marked as allowed by 200.6(B)

200.6(A) is for sizes 6AWG or smaller. See 200.6(B) for larger than 6AWG. It states the same as 200.7(A)(3). That's my interpretation.

I swear, it's all a conspiracy to sell us 4 spools of #6 cable when we really only needed 1!

tell me about it i have the same thing as well and end up get 4 or 5 spools depending on what area i have to do.

the only issuse when i get to larger wire size like 2/0 and larger normally i useally have color coded tape to use it but i think i did see one wire manufacter do make the larger wires size in color in bulk roll now but not sure if that is the fact .

Some inspectors want to see the reidentification as soon as it comes out from the conduit and some only ask for it at the termination.

Would 200.6 (B) also include indentifying the grounded conductor of a 3/0 cable in LB conduit fitting?

(if the LB conduit fitting was rated for splicing)

Speaking of indentifying, I prefer to mark the wire complete. None of this one little piece of white tape 1/4" thick. Identify it like you mean it!
