Spa bonding.. Help me get this straight. I come from the motor lug and bond any metal parts.

What if there is not any other metal parts. Do I bond the motor to anything?

Back in the day, I did my own Spa and a friends pool. Each time I drove a ground rod. Apperently that wasn't needed.

If the motor frame is plastic than there is no reason to 'bond' the motor because plastic is not likely to be energized.

If the motor frame is made of metal, then it needs to be bonded to both hot & cold copper water pipes with a solid #8 green copper conductor.

I should of included this is an outdoor spa. There is no cold water to bond.

I'm fairlt sure I need to do nothing to the bond lug on the motor if there is no other metal within 5'.

but i want a second opinion.

Well I answered my own question. From the factor the spa already had the motor bonded to the spa control panel.
