I have taken some code update classes and seminars, but was not totally enthusiastic, as New York State's requirement to follow the '05 would not have taken effect until the year 2009. I have recently received a call from the DOS (Department of State), that unless there is a resistance to adopting the '05 at the public comment stage in July, we will be referencing the "05 starting in January of 2006. That is great news, now I have to get up to speed and become more aware of the changes, especially since we have been enforcing the '99 NEC. This will be a daunting task for the men in the field who do not spend a lot of time in the book.

There's a meeting going on out here in Suffolk next month with our Office of Consumer Affairs to discuss the strange situation we have referencing the NYS Codes, the 1999 and 2002 NECs depending on the situation.
