As the ECN Most Qualified Fire-Fighter,(Challenge me, if you think I am wrong),
I am getting sick of houses, buildings, burning down, with no sprinkler systems, not even smoke detectors.
I am(as most of my affiliates are),sick of putting buildings out, just because some land-lord wants to save a Dollar or two

Well Trumpy, as a former wearer of the maltese cross i shall not challenge you, rather commend you in fact.

I guess greed and ignorance is universal with slumlords.

I've had to service my share also and am quite taken by thier blatant flaunting of life safety laws, ultimately to thier liabilities sake

Yet it is so common here, with enforcement equating to nothing more than a pack of toothless hounds that i see no real end in sight.

Affordable housing apparently takes presidence over safe housing.

So these days i just stage the ambulance, pass out the H20, and keep an eye out for exhaustion

Give it hell Trumpy, we gotcher back!

If I were to build a new home I would have sprinklers installed. I now have smokes in every room, carbon monoxide det, each level, fire ext in kitchen, and a charged garden hose just inside the door to the basement. I am guessing this topic came about because of the RI fire. I was numb watching the video of what happened there. Unbelievable.

E-Scott,
you've a 'stand pipe' inside your basement door?
that is sooo hick !
do you reside a distance from the fire dept?

Not to far from fire dept but mostly volunteer dept and I have seen how fast a small fire can become a big disaster. I originally was concerned about the christmas tree. A friend lost their home after the lights on the tree malfunctioned and the tree pretty much burst into flames while they were right there. Perhaps there would not be much I could do but it gives me a little more peace of mind.

no aurgument here. i have found a number of plumbers in the sticks who would pose an optional stand pipe in a cellar door.

response time does matter
