Ive installed a couple but want to be more informed on the install(codes) layout, pricing?
any ideas of sites or books any thing ?

Don't forget to have your insurance reviewed before doing any alarm work, and also your contracts will have include different language from standard EC contracts.
Oh don't fall off the chair when they quote your alarm coverage rates, every state is different, but it pays to check.
Pricing, is the good news, alarm companies are in business to build assets, and make a nice profit, unlike most of the electrical contracting.

We need a sealed print in my state, for fire jobs, the layout is big time liability, if you miss something, nothing like electrical installations, also your married to the job, no hit and run installs, if a building has sprinklers, then it really gets to be fun.

In IL fire and burglar alarms are separate licenses issued by the State, as opposed to the locally issued EC tickets. Much different in terms of liability and insurance coverage.
EC's are allowed to run hardwired (combo) smoke, heat, and CO detectors for local alarm only.
And fire sprinklers is a different (sub) license of plumbing / pipefitting AFAIK.
