I tried GE GDO bulbs which lasted a couple days (a little less than the 3000 hour rating). Now I'm trying fluorescent and halogen. Any suggestions?

Try "Rough Service" bulbs.

Or bulbs rated at 130 V...

I have found compact fluorescent bulbs to be extremely resistant to vibration.

I like using the compact fluorescents in my drop light because of their resistance to vibration and I don't end up burning myself on the holder.

Thanks for your replies. I installed a compact fluorescent and a halogen. Both have survived in the short term.

Update:

The halogen lasted a few days, the fluorescent is still in service.

I have used 130V bulbs and have only had one go out (in 3 openers) in about 13 "bulb" years (1 bulb/opener for 1 year, moved to new home, 2 bulbs/openers for 6+ years). Prior to putting in the 130V bulbs, all other bulbs ("normal", appliance, GDO-specific) lasted about 1 month or so.

GDO guy suggested the 130V bulbs to combat the frequent burnout.

<sorry, didn't see that 1000BaseT already made this suggestion>
