Has any one on here any experience with a product called 'Interlock'? They're a plate that slides over existing panel cover to lock out either the main or the 1st 2 bkr. spaces. They're over priced @ $150, but a deal for the cust.I've been delaying a job to check this out.

I've installed probably 20 of them. They work great but are way overpriced as you noticed (its only a piece of sheetmetal). In my opinion they offer much more flexibility as any breaker in the panel can be turned on but the home owner has to be smart enough to not overload the generator. We install a watt meter as part of the package. We also use a Reliance outdoor power inlet box and normally feed the panel from the power inlet box with 6/3.

They may be overpriced for what they are, but the added versatility and the labor saving of not having to add a seperate emergency panel seems to be worth it to me.

I just got approvals from 2 inspectors that said they would accept the use of this product.

LG, how long did it take to drill and install the kit? Was a template included?

Template, loctite, drill bit, instruction stickers (for the homeowner) are included as well as very good instructions. I can install the kit in under ten minutes.

Whose watt meter do you use? I've been looking for a cost-effective one to install with genset hookup's.
