I don't know specifics, but it seems that we recently underwent a 'Denial of Service' Attack or something similar. It was not necessarily targeted at us specifically (no way to tell for sure) because other servers in the same datacenter were also having the same sort of problems.

The best guess is that it was the result of some sort of virus controlling numerous computers making them request large amounts of data from us at the same time, and slowing us to a crawl/stop.

I've been told that we've just installed some sort of Software that helps prevent this sort of thing and hopefully it won't happen again (knocking wood...).

At any rate, this is a good time to remind all of you of the importance of being wary of opening attachments, running Antivirus software and keeping it up to date!!
