We installed wireing for a pool the other week. Everything passed but how exactley is a non-double insulated pool pump motor bonded. I know its a # 8 Bare but what is the exact procedure. The more I read the code book the more confused I get. Any and all help would be greatley appreciated. If you dont have enough room in this forum please e-mail me at anna729@comcast.net I live in massachuttes. Wish school was still open. My boss isnt even sure of the answer. HELP
Steve:
Short & sweet, lug on motor to pool frame.
IF any other pool equipment, continue #8 accordingly. Anything within zone over 4Sq in. has to be bonded.
IG pool is rebar, niche shell, cups, filter, heater etc.
Basically, if in doubt, bond it.
Do not go to a grd rod, panel, sub-panel, EGC etc.
NOTE: Be very careful if it's inground in areas that adopted 2005 regarding bonding around perimeter decking. I don't have Article handy now, but read!

If above ground every stantion must be bonded, holes in stantions must be drilled and taped and the lug must be suitable for direct burial. the #8 min must be connected @ every stantion then go to the pump motor with no break.
Peter, is that a metal pool with significant metal to metal contact between members? If so I say it goes beyond 680.26
With that thinking we would be looping our screen cages with #8.
