With the recent spike in copper prices and todays techonology, have any wire companies or techs studied the feasability of alternative metals that would suit our industry?

It appears some of the China made fixtures have some sort of alloy or mixture of copper in their wiring as it appears to be quite shiny.

Fixture wire is a different animal, IMHO.
We're stuck with $$ copper, and Al in the larger gauges.
