OK, another 'Jersey Guy' pops up. WELCOME to the ECN forums.

I have a Penn dieless crimper. Hydraulic, no dies, with Illsco. or generic crimps.

I'm with Dnk. Same Greenlee Gator Pro .....

It works great and has for a long time now.

I have a set of Blackburns with curved hickory handles, 5/8 fixed nose die and die cavity for my O, D and 840 diesets. Those are the dies I use the most. A friend has a complete set I borrow from if I need something odd. The tool is not too expensive @ around $300.00 but the diesets are better than $50.00 a set. It can get real pricey if you need all of them. A dieless hydraulic would probably be more cost effective. The Greenlee Gator is awesome. One-handed crimping or crimping in a narrow ditch is a breeze. Too expensive for me no more than I need to crimp H-Taps.

We never need them. The lugs are either lay-in, or the POCO does the crimping.

We also can't land the driven GEC in the meter base, which I think sucks.

Similar here, Larry- we are required to use PoCo supplied parallel groove connectors, which tighten with a wrench.

Though, on jobs where I do use crimp connectors, I use the crimper provided by the parts house.
