Does anyone know where you can buy replacement panel buss bars? I have a customer that I replaced the main breaker on. The buss got hot, needs to be replaced. The rest of the can is fine. Its a Crouses-Hinds 200 amp, flush mount. Catalog# JA222CW.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

We change that panel out, but they do make nice nite lights, if you like a flashing blue arc for a nite lite, i would replace it with a new loadcenter.

I agree. It would be simpler to replace the panel.

Cutler-Hammer makes kits for replacing the insides of almost everyone's panel. These would allow you to use the existing box.

Failing that, I would visit the local distributor, and just buy another panel of the same make, and switch out the insides.

Just keep in mind that many of the old Zinsco, Challenger, and Crouse Hinds panels fail at the point of contact, where the breaker attaches to the buss.

Thanks everyone. Its not that old of panel. About 12 years old. Everything else looks fine. If there were any other issues such as undersized, other damage, ect I would recommend replacing the panel. I have in the past gutted a new panel to replace the bad parts. So far no luck with the local suppliers. Does anyone know of a supplier on the internet, or elsewhere? The way it was it would have made a good cigrette lighter.

There is a reason for that, most of us would do a panel swap.

Is the busbar even removable?

I would imagine it is riveted to the plastic back plane.

Too much sun the other day. How about "busbar". Yes its replacable, the whole assembly, connected to plastic keepers which are connected to metal brackets, are connected to the back of the box with screws. I stand corrected.

Yes may just have to replace the panel, just seems like a waste to replace with only a single damaged part. Kinda like taking a car to a mechanic that says you need a new engine since your starter is bad. I'm not trying to recondition a cb (whatever that is, clean it?)

I don't know about Crouse-Hinds, but I do know that Sq D will sell you replacement interiors for their panels; perhaps Crouse-Hinds will, as well.

If they don't, or if the cost is more than a whole box (not unlikely, due to economies of scale), you could buy another of the same box, and just swap in the new interior. That would save you effort of roughing everything into a whole new panel.
