If I have a 60HP 3-phase 208 motor with a RLA 140 amps and a LRC of 1000 amps, do I set a 200-amp service using 1000-amp equipment?

Anyone have any experience with these and can describe what your set-up looked like?

Thanks.

You'll be using 1200 Amp frame equipment.

Go to 695.4 B (1)

Tesla, why do you say 1200 amp? Do you interpret indefinatly to be continuous load? wouldn't that be no smaller than 1250-amp?

I don't know if it was in the specs or if I am recalling this from another site, but I thought the controller was set to only allow locked rotor current for 20 seconds.

Do you guys normally meter these? I have a meeting set up with the utility for sometime this week, so I'll find out what they want, but I'm curious what some have done in the past.

2002 NEC handbook page 975-976 gives Example and explains it all.
