The decorations are going up in the shops, so I guess it won't be long before we're all watching "The Wizard of Oz" and "It's A Wonderful Life" again.

So, I reckon I've just had an early visit from Santa. Did some wiring in a house which has just changed hands, and had a attic full of assorted boxes. Got told to help myself to anything up there I fancied, as they wanted it clear of junk.

Well, I'm an avid collector of old records, so imagine the look on my face when I opened up a box and found about 200 records inside, including some rare Elvis 78s, jazz EPs, and loads more great stuff. Just about made my day. [Linked Image]

Any of you had an unexpected reward to a hobby or interest while on the job?

Yes, I aquired a pair of spectacles (old round type) when rewiring a dwelling, goes great with my revolutionary war outfit (uh, no offense there Paul)...

Why is the "Wizard" always on at Christmas?? It's been a regular since I was a kid. It's got nothing to do with the holidays!

Wow, quite a selection of finds!

I'm not sure whether I should ask whether you ever found the reasons for the bones. Doctor? Archeological student? Or did the tin also have headed notepaper from the Bates Motel?

Scott,
"Oz" comes around just about every Christmas here as well. Just one of those movies to make people feel all warm & fuzzy I guess, but maybe someone hasn't realized Christmas isn't tornado season.

Virgil,
Can't see your pic I'm afraid. Not sure if it's the link or my browser.

BTW, no offense taken over 1776. I'm on your side on that one! [Linked Image]

Thanks. The pic has come up OK on here now, but I took a look at your other pics on your site.

I was wondering about the red coats.... [Linked Image]

Virgil,

Yeah, what's with the Red Coats? [Linked Image]

Paul,

Is that why you said that you were on our side?

Bill,

Follow Virgil's link to his site. There's an explanation of the red coats.

And no, I meant I was on the colonists' side. [Linked Image]

Our Chancellor has made it clear that there are going to be even more tax increases soon. Time for a little tea party here I think... [Linked Image]

Our regiment colors are blue with red trim. Musicians wore the opposite color scheme so the commander could more readily spot them. The musicians (fifes and drums) were the "walkie talkies" that sounded orders to the men.

(Plus we, the musicians, have been known to march with the 4th Royal Artillery on occasion.)

The uniforms are mostly second-hand from the 3rd Army Infantry Old Guard .

Notice the resemblance?

Looky there!
The real Redcoat is there in the stands! She's not on our side.
