Folks,

I've just gotten the idea of making a Forum Members Photo Gallery
(yeah, sometimes I'm a little slow - )

Let me know what you think, it's still in the construction stage, but it would be a way to see a lot of the pictures at one time and in one place. I can copy pictures that are linked from other webs to the ECN server so that they will not be lost.

Your thoughts?

The next version of the BB will have 'sticky' capability. This one doesn't, but I can make a permanent Link on the page somewhere, either above or to the left. jw,

I'm not sure if I should be saying this, but for some time at ECN there has been an on-going want for advancement of this site.
We want to help you members out.
If there is any change, Bill will announce it, I'm sure.

I'm sure jw is "pulling your leg" a bit here. It means the same thing in the US as it does where you are in NZ.

To answer the other question, yes we've been planning on upgrading the forum software for a while now. Some might remember that it was voted down by the Members a few years back. We had a newer version ready to be installed, but it wasn't really necessary to upgrade back then. This version is no longer supported by the developer (hasn't been for 2 years now), so I think we're due for a change, and some of the newer features like 'sticky notes' and the 'pm' feature seem like they'd be useful.

So, yes - there will be some remodelling done, I'm just not sure about when.

Cool.

Personally I like it how it is but at this point it is probably due for retirement.

I bet the moderators would be glad to test out any beta version you may have.

Don't forget the permits.

But as you say if the software is no longer supported there is no real point in carrying on with it.
I'm all for change, how long would it take for the change Bill?.

I feel the same, a new look and style may bring in new members. Which in turn brings in more training and food for thought. I say go for it!!! And by the way hello all, i haven't been around much been crazy busy with work.

If we are going to upgrade Bill, I'd like to have the following features:

• Private Messaging
• Being able to see who is on-line at the same time as me.

I imagine any new bulletin board soft ware out there would have many nice features.

I know so little about computers that I'm always reluctant to "upgrade" anything that's working for me.

My only complaint---that has nothing to do with Bill---is that many people haven't filled out their e-mails, occupations, wherabouts, etc. Maybe some required fields would be nice.

This is the site I come to most often & tell anyone who will listen. Thanks Bill.

In order to upgrade and keep the existing discussions open and intact I believe it will have to be a newer version of the same software. It will have private messaging (pm)but I'm not sure what else will be available.

I'll keep you posted on when it will happen, it's not totally up to me.

Actually, all of the described enhancements sound like all the stuff that's available on another board I visit at www.m715zone.com for Army vehicle afficionados. It's powered by www.postnuke.com but I'm not certain what the terms & conditions are for using them.

Some of the pictures were in different folders and had to be grouped together.

I think I have them all now. If anyone has sent in a picture and doesn't see it in the Gallery please let me know, - and if you have one to send in - please do that too!!

How bout an icon or symbol that shows each members job title.

Like a "J" for journeyman, "O" for business owner, "I" for inspector,"E" for engineer,or something along these lines.
