I was talking to someone at work who has a realitive in the house building business and he told me a story that his realitive was on a job and someone from the Fire Marshals office was on the job and the brick mason was fined $250 for placing a box for a light in the wall. I have also heard tales about trades being afrade to change light bulbs because of the Fire Marshals fining them. Now after all these years of no enfocement have we gone from one extreme to anouther?

Hypress,

The WV Code requires that anyone doing electrical work for "pay" (and that can include a six-pack) be licensed.

I'm not sure if the story is true or not, but you could contact Anthony Carrico at the State Fire Marshal's Office for further information.

BTW, Section 103-1-11.1 of the WV Code places me in an uncomfortable position when I'm doing inpsections "Any certified inspector, who has knowledge of violations of any rule of the state fire marshal or any rule of the state fire commission or of the W. V. Code, shall submit the information, together with available evidence to the state fire marshal." As far as I'm concerned, until they issue me a badge & gun, I don't think I'll be real aggressive in my reporting.

Tom.
