I know I can fan speed control several industrial type fans from a 5 amp lutron variable speed control, but what I am wondering about is a 3-speed fan. I know in order to quietly (and within manufacturer instructions) control a 3-speed fan you are supposed to use a quiet 3-speed control, but I have yet to see 1 rated at more that 1.8 amps. I want to control 3 fans at the same time from 1 single gang opening. any ideas? maybe I have to use a smart type system that uses remotes? I'd prefer a wall box mount as this is for a commercial space and I don't remotes getting misplaced.

I can't remember who makes them but their are remote controls that go into the wall. The remote switches are conected to line voltage and it may have a small disconect (for the fan) on the bottom. The other side go's in the canipy or is a factory part of the fan.

I can't say how well it would work with a remote setup getting all to respond at the same time.

if you can call the manufacturer, they might make the control you need, but I think if the fan is solid state, you have to use a solid state speed control.
