How many of you new yorkers know that the New york state residential code is what governs the electrical laws Not the NEC. Does anyone know how to get a copy with out spending $60 or more I would thind since it is public info it would be free
Yes, this is true. It consists of about 68 pages out of more than 540 for the whole residential code. It very closely follows the NEC, so much so that (although I haven't gone over it section by section) I don't see any difference.
Maybe Pierre will chime in here with some differences, I'm sure he knows them much better than I.

It probably is available free at libraries. That said if you are a contractor and you are bound to that code I would think you would be eager to spend the sixty bucks so you are up to speed on the requirements. It's tax write off too.
