I guess Leviton has solved the ground up or down debate. Has anyone here used these yet?

Is the horizontal portion supposed to be on the left or the right? [Linked Image]

I think that I have read that if you mount a receptacle horizontally, the grounded conductor goes on top. They theory is something might fall between the cord cap and the outlet.............like a toaster or something like that! ha

e57: Looking at it from the outside is rough enough. Can you imagine what the INSIDE must look like... [Linked Image].

Roger: I have seen a few of those around my area. Are they made to mount directly to a 1900 box?

Hello mike, I think they will, but I have always used an optional mounting ring that allows them to mount directly to a single or double gang plaster ring.

Something that I don't understand about that 4-plex...it appears to have been designed so that no matter how you mount it, you always have a phase conductor on the top. It could as easily be built so that the phase conductors were on the inside [Linked Image]

Personally, I believe that if 'ground up or down' has _signficant_ merit one way or the other, then the solution is to go to plugs where the base of the blades are insulated.

Mike & Roger, yes they will mount directly to a 1900 box. Most of the time I've used them is like Roger described with the optional mount to put on a single gang plaster ring.
