For a duplex re-hab, owner had me rough for bb heat,5-6 circuits per side. Question is,
best way to arrange bkrs. in the panel?
Ahead of light/appliance? Staggered?Heck, in general what's the best residential panel layout? Thanks.

I like to start out with the larger loads nearest the feed. The 15 and 20 amp branch circuits should then be arranged in some kind of logical order after that- kitchen circuits, kitchen and dining lighting, dining receptacles, living room receptacles, living room lighting, etc. then on to the second floor.

Though there is no requirement, an orderly arrangement makes troubleshooting easier and makes for a neat job.

I recently wired a workshop building for my father-in-law. Economics being what they are, it was cheaper to get a 42 circuit panel than anything smaller. I used full-sized breakers exclusively and still had plenty of blanks so the loads are grouped with blank spaces between them. The inspector liked the idea.
