I'd like to thank all of you that have participated in the Photos area, and encourage any of you that have pictures to share them with the rest of us.

I think that particularly interesting would be:

  • Pictures of member's own work and / or worksites. We work in such diverse areas and situations; it would help us all to understand each others "worlds".
  • "Before and after" pictures of jobs or repairs made.
  • Pictures of your jobs in progress, with updates sent in as they go along.
  • Pictures of any good work that you might see in your "travels".
  • Any unusual methods or materials.
  • Anything else you find interesting, informative, or amusing.
  • ...and of course, the crazy stuff that you run into. [Linked Image]

It doesn't take a fancy camera or pro photographer. (Many of my earlier pics were put up with a $49 camera) (480X240 pixel)

"A picture is worth 1000 words"

Just e-mail them with any text or description you'd like to accompany them to either:
photos@electrical-contractor.net
or
electure@sbcglobal.net

Do any of you have ideas or suuggestions of what you'd like to see??

Once again thanks to all.
...S
(edited to change my email address)

I love the photo area. It's one of my favorites here at ECN. [Linked Image]

My only complaint is there aren't enough new photos coming in to look at!!!!! So I second Scott: Send those photos in!!!

As a novice I would like some description of the actual problem with the photos. It is not always obvious to me.

Bump,
I couldn't agree more Scott. [Linked Image]

Something else which might be interesting is a series of photos showing the proper way to do something, e.g. the correct preparation and installation of weatherproof fittings and conduits, the proper way to install armored cable bushings and clamps, correct way to use extension rings, etc.

I'm sure that such would be appreciated by (a) the novices who are just starting out and (b) those of us from outside the U.S. who are often used to dealing with fittings which are somewhat different than North American types.

It can be a tough crowd for posting pictures of your owm work! Instruction photos might encourage the uninitiated.

I'll send in some pictures of some very good/bad work...not mine. The guy probably started with machine wiring, like me. It's neat in the extreme, but he didn't understand derating, and moved an entire service with circuits in a large conduit. Then the rest of the basement had open boxes with live wires hanging.
