..I was approached by a gas station owner,to bring power and a phoneline out to the dispensing island for a credit card reader....I know theres a light post there with a conduit that runs into the garage..with an E-Y attached to it...the question is..how do I go about getting a receptacle out there, and I know I can't run phone line with power in the same conduit...can I put a receptacle out there,as long as it's more than 18" off the ground, therefore not in the hazardous zone??and does it have to be in an explosion-proof enclosure?? and what about the phone line...tell him he's outta luck??? or can it be done overhead?? with at least 15' of clearance???....HELP!!!!

I'm pretty weak on hazardous locations, but I'll give it a shot.

In table 514.3(B)(1)it will tell you what class and division you are in. I think you will be a class 1 division 2.

501.5(B)(2)talks about entering and leaving the boundaries of the classified location. You will need to seal your pipes, unless you meet the exceptions.

I'm hoping someone else will chime in here...

AR,

I'm moving this into the NEC area where it's most applicable. You may get more responses there.
