I know that 3 phase power is more efficient.
But does this translate into savings on utility billing.
For example,
2400 watts @ 240 volt 1 ph. = 10 amps.
2400 watts @ 240 volt 3 ph. = 5.78 amps.
Other than initial higher installation costs, and without considering demand, P.F., etc, what is typical rate differences for 1 ph. versus 3 ph.? Does the customer benefit from the increased efficiency or do utilities charge more per kwh for 3 ph., and negate any savings?

In the area where I live the Utility company does not charge more per kwh for three phase power.
