Good evening -

I'm hearing from a few electricians that the AFCI breakers are problematic and trip very easily.

Anyone had any bad experiences with them so far?

Any particular manufacturer better than others?

Am I getting bad information?

Thanks in advance and I love this forum. Well managed and very eduactional.

AFCI's can be a real pita, through the grapevine i understand Jeff Sargent (nfpa) made the call that 210.12 as applicable to service upgrades were not intended to have afci's inclusive

at least that's the skinny here in Vermont, where they made upgrades an ordeal...

The most common problem is caused by an accidential grounded to grounding conductor fault. The AFCIs have a 30 to 50 mA ground fault trip built in.
