Dear valued eBay member:
It has come to our attention that your eBay billing informations are
out of order. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your
online experience and update your personal records you will not run
into any future problems with the online service. However, failure
to update your records will result in account suspension. Please
update your records by September 15th.

Once you have updated your account records your eBay session will not be
interrupted and will continue as normal. Failure to update will result in
cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS) violations or future
problems.

It's not long ago we had a similar discussion about PayPal.

Dear valued eBay member:
I think the same applies here as to the PayPal scam. Genuine messages from eBay will be addressed using your eBay ID, not general salutations such as "Dear Member."

Gee, it's been at least three days since I saw something like that. Looked like it was snached from a real eBay message but a look at the code showd the link was bogus. I forwarded it to eBay and got a reply in less than 2 hours. I think they take this stuff seriously.

Bill,
I had a virus enter my computer last week through a message masked as a warning from my ISP.
I'm not very happy about this, even though I have isolated it, what's real and what isn't these days?. [Linked Image]

One of the things you'll see on a genuine ebay email is their cautionary notice to NOT give out your credit card info nor your password nor any other detail that would compromise your account. If they really have a problem with your credit card or something, they'll find a way to notify you... such as a 'bounce' or rejection of your card when making a purchase.

For those that have MBNA credit cards, have you ever used their ShopSafe option? It is a way to create a unique 1-time only credit card number that is mapped back to your existing card and safeguards you from someone picking up your card number from a transaction and loading up charges before you can detect it. I highly recommend it. You can find a demo at http://www.mbnashopsafe.com/ and see if the offer would help. I'm not sure it would help for accounts such as paypall where your card info is retained for future transactions.

"I'd like to perform a lobotomy on these ^*^&^%&%$*^! "
Mamills, you are assuming this person has a brain, to perform such an operation on.....
but then again, some folks actually fall for such scams.

walrus,

Yep, that's the one!
I wonder how many people get pulled in on these things. It's a shame.

Tiffany:
How right you are!! I stand corrected [Linked Image].

It would be interesting to know how many people fall for this garbage? I feel like sending some sort of scathing reply to these scam-artists, but I fear that would lead to even more problems.
