is a RCR50SEA. hard to find and i can never remember who they are made by. i've checked regents and universal, among others.

they work fine from the outside of enclosures or from the inside of flush mounted ones.

i'd like to find their website and place an order because our local suppliers arent able or willing to keep them on hand.

What do these look like?

Have you tried the arlington NM50 black buttons?

Why do they look so chintzy? [Linked Image]

I'm not disputing the quality....just that I guess looks can be deceiving, especially to someone so used to seeing metal clamps and armored cable. I've always regarded tool-less implements with suspicion but I may be wrong about this.

The plastic sure seems to prevent the NM jacket from getting abraded on sharp edges.

SvenNYC:

Speaking of chintzy, the newer color-coded ROMEX sheathing still seems to be more fragile than the older sheathing. The cables seem less bulky, but there's something different about the material that is now used. The metal connectors will crimp right into the conductors if one is not careful!

i am leary of new fittings too and then i try em, and whatdya know they work great. they are made of one piece of pvc type plastic, no screwdriver needed, and are much faster and easier to use also. i gave up on metal romex connectors long ago.

All of the above are great. They are not "chintzy" at all. As for the romex jacket, it seems to vary by manufacturer.

Used these connectors for years. They work well for resi applications. Other companies make the same type of product. Ask your supplier.

I also have noticed that romex jacket varies from brand to another.

Colonial seems to have the thickest jacket I've run across,Southwire the thinnest.

OK, I thought that only Southwire can legally use the name ROMEX. That's the stuff to which I referred.

Do other mfgs. also color-code, besides Southwire?

TG,

Romex is a registered trademark of Southwire. It wasn't always that way though. Southwire purchased the building wire division from General Cable a few years ago, and in the process aquired the Romex brand name.

All the NM cable manufacturers color code now. White for 14, yellow for 12, orange for 10.

T&B has their version shown here, if your supply house won't carry T&B, try another supply house.
