Question:

What are the duties of an:

"Assistant Chief Operator in a Power Plant?"

Do they use the National Electrical Code, or do they use the National Electrical Safety Code?

If not, what code do they use in a Power Plant?

Are Power Plants Covered in the NEC?

Hi Joe,

Not under the NEC.

Based on NEC 2002,
90.2(B)(5)
Installations under the exclusive control of an electric utility where such installations
c.
Are on property owned or leased by the electric utility for the purpose of ....generation......of electricity.

IMO

Hmmm, since you asked, I haven't looked at the official job description lately, but here's a summary:

Operate all electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, steam and air systems in a safe manner compliant with the mission of the plant in the generation of steam and electricity. Be aware of any and all parameters involved in the operation, correct any deviations, ensure training and safety are in compliance with local procedures. And since this is a state owned University, Students First. Plus we co-generate with the local utility, so VARS are to kept on our side.

BTW, Joe, Sorry to stir things up.
