Used one of the little plug in testers. Test ok on the first outlet of a kitchen circut. the 2nd outlet box shows reversed. Switched white & black wires at outlet and still shows reversed. This should have at least given proper reading. Outlets are ground wire connected and white to large prong opening as required. Very confused?
Also is the only way to test bare cable for hot/netural is to have to connect to a outlet first in order to use a plug in tester. Dosnt seem to be a way with my fluke.

You can use your fluke, put one probe in ground and the other in neutral, should be 0 volts and 0, or close maybe 5 or 10, ohms. Netx probe between neutral and hot, verify voltage, and again between hot and ground.

It's not reversed wiring. If you unplug everything on this circuit, and turn off all switches, your tester will correctly read "open neutral". Somewhere on this circuit, the white wire has become disconnected. This usually happens when a backstab of the white wire becomes loose. You may need to open up every box on the circuit (working or not) and move backstabbed connections to adjacent screws. While you're in there, tighten up any wire nuts. Start with the non-working boxes, and then move to the closest working boxes on the same circuit.
