I have a guy that wants me to give him a bid on rewiring an old farm house. It sounds like the house will be gutted to the studs. Do I bid this as I would new construction or some other way? What if he decides against gutting it? How do bid that out. Anyone have an answer?

In my experience there's a big difference in 'open' as opposed to closed old work, and would shy away from bidding anything closed without intrical knowledge of the structure.

Before you bid it, make sure exactly what you're dealing with. Even if they strip the walls and remove the exist wiring, bid a little hirer than new work. Mainly because old studs are much harder to drill and it's bound to be nasty working conditions. Make sure you know who's removing the old wiring.
