I am working on a remodel. The 200amp panel is located in the interior of the house with a 3 wire feeder. The panel has breakers and a 200amp pull out fuse. It is fed from the meter through a 200amp Ronk manual transfer switch.

I am pricing out moving the panel to a better location. If I move the panel it needs to be fed with 4 wires and a disconnect installed at the meter. Do you think I could use the Ronk transfer switch as a main disconnect? They are not going to use the transfer switch for the generator any longer?

My thought is probably not since it is not listed as an actual disconnect switch.

I would not think so, since the Ronk switch does not have an OFF position(the ones I have seen anyway) it might be hard to sell it to an inspector as a disco.

Although you could disconnect the service by placing the transfer switch to 'emergency source' it will not be compliant.

Time to re-do based on current NEC.
