Just wondering if any of you guys have done a Burger King. The plans I worked had an internet room for customers in it. A bit strange to me. Came in @ 52K with site lighting, signage and such.

Anyway, just wanting to know if you guys have done any fast food chain work like this and how was the experience.

Never bid a fast food joint, but I have done some other "chain" establiments. I didn't really like the way it was "set up". They usually had "national venders" that required you to have most of the money for the fixtures, and gear "out of your pocket". They were usually hard to deal with, and wouldn't help you like a local supply house will. Usually large establishments like that will have no problem holding your money back because you made a mistake on some document. Don't let me discourage you to much. Good luck with it.

Special order, don't upset us,

True doc, gear panels and lights through some chain progam. Crappy plans, details scattered all over the place. Think they do it on purpose.

I can dig it arseegee. Just remember those 2 light fixtures that were left off the bill of material to the national supplier will cost as much as 10 fixtures from a local supplier.

Missed it.... winning bid was $49,300. Oh well live and learn. Like Wendys better anyway!

Arseege:
Sorry to hear that you lost it for about 5%.

Curious; were there multiple bidders, and if so how did you fare out of all.

John, we were 3rd high, out of 5 ECs. Pretty tight bidding for round here. Only knew of two other local companies in the bid.

Just a word of caution on these big jobs, a local EC bid and did a large Drug Store, he trusted the GC because he was national. The last I heard he was in to his supplier for about $90K, the GC took off and never paid any of the subs.
All of us got letters from the supplier that any job over 5000.. would not be honored without a 'Notice of Furnishing', which this EC did not have. Needless to say he lost everything.
AS Phil Esterhouse of Hill Street Blues used to say. "Be careful out there"
