One of my pet-peaves involving electrical fittings is the inconsistancy in the names of "Romex" Cable connectors.

3/8" NMC Connectors fit into a 7/8" hole, which is the O.D. for trade-size 1/2" pipe.

But, the rest are named with the trade-size, 3/4" NMC Connector fits in a 3/4" trade-size hole (1-1/8"), etc.

The above pictures, in my humble (hah!) opinion, is the real 3/8" NMC Connector.

I don't use Romex much, so I didn't know there was a "3/8" NM connector. I just know them as Romex connectors--regular (fits in 1/2" trade size KO) and "bigger"--fits in 3/4" KO. I know BX/MC connectors are called 3/8", and I figured it was because the same connector can be used for 3/8" flex. The one you have pictured looks like it's for under-cabinet strip fixtures.

UC lights, yeah...

I'm really not sure on the makers intent here, but am curious..

I just know rx fits poorly thru them, so i don't use them...

I have used plenty of those little suckers with no trouble at all. Virgil, are you talking about the standard issue romex connectors? I know the box says 3/8" but everyone seems to call them 1/2" romex conns. Which fit into the 7/8" hole that is commonly reffered to as 1/2" inch as you stated.

Is the romex sheath suppose to continue on thru the smaller throat here?

I've struggled with that.....

Yup, from a low profile UC fluorescent light.

I had no trouble with 14-2-G going all the way through, but 12-2-G might not fit.
