I have a few questions and I would some input.
1. When using a megger to check a wire's insulation should the megger be set above ore below the circuit value?
2. Trolley line's ground can not come in contact with?
3. Resistors over 600v, how would you protect people from this hazard?
4. A power & appliance panel board has 10% of its circuits rated over?
5. What are the three types of iron core transformers?

Sorry to answer these out of order....

5) Open core,Closed core,Shell core.Reference...sorry,it's from an electrical exam preparation guide I have with no cover:( Someone copied it for me in a loose leave binder a few years ago.

1)Higher.In doing so,any weaknesses will be revealed at a higher percentage than if the same voltage was used.Same reference.


2)NEC 2005 110.19


4)I'm in NEC 2005......408.34 through 408.36. Looks like ther are some CHANGES in this from when I found the EXCACT question in the book I mentioned in the first 2 questions.

These are questions I had on a state test a few days ago. This state does not allow for the use of a code or anything during the test. Thanks for the great answers. I don't know how they would think anyone would know these answers withou the NEC. My last question is how far upward does a class 1 Div 2 area go?

How would someone take a Code Exam, without using the Code Book?
That would be a heck of a lot of information to memorize.

I thought the main purpose of the Code Exam is to verify the Examee can accurately navigate the Code Book, not how much Short-Term Memory Capacity the Examee possesses or lacks!

Maybe I am missing something here - sure looks that way!

I would understand not allowing the use of textbooks / manuals for the Theory questions on the Exam - those wouldn't be in the NEC.
The Examee needs to know the basic formulas, and the Mathematics to apply with the formulas.

What State are you taking the Exam in?

I am not flaming the OP, just kind of baffled.
