What are the requirements to get an Electrician's Licence in the US?.
What does this allow you to do(scope of work wise)?.
Can you work all over the whole country, with such a licence?.
Please Help, your comments please-

Trumpy, lisensure varies from state to state here, some have strict requirements, some not at all.
Reciprocity with nieghboring states also varies, usually boarding states come tosome agreement.
I wish it were a national license, however i have my doubt's about the fed's handling of the matter.
My state ( Vermont) requires 4 years and completion of the apprenticship program
(also 4 years) to be eligible to apply for a J-mans card, another 2 years and one is then eligible to apply for the Masters test.

I often thought why can't an electical license be national. A doctor can practice anywhere in the country, why not an electrician, we have to go through 4 years of schooling, 4 years in the field(some states may vary). But I wonder myself what would happen if the FEDS gotta hold of it. Probably not a good idea.

Trumpy,
I don't know whether you realize this, but many things in the U.S. come under state (or sometimes county/city) jurisdiction rather than national. Driver and vehicle licenses are state issued, sales tax can be half a dozen different rates within a few miles as it's made up of state, county, and city portions, etc.

I'd echo the other guys concerns about putting under the Federal Govt. My experience of dealing with American bureaucracy is that local, county, and even state offices aren't too bad. But anything that gets into the G-men just takes forever (take it from someone who spent more hours I can remember on the phone to the INS).

Wirenuttt,

FYI Doctors can't just practice anywhere they want to in the U.S. Thay must take board certification tests, and be licensed, in each and every state that they practice in.
(My wife is one.)

yes...despite thier best intentions Trumpy.

A further note on 'licensure' is that there is no electrical orginization here, to my knowledge, that advoctes one.

I guess it's simply politically incorrect?
