I have a customer that is putting in a 30' stucco/block bench/wall. It is outside and will have a cap on top that will be over the rope lighting. The only rope lighting I've seen is with a plug in variety. The owner is a commercial/industrial contractor and does not want one end of the rope lighting to plug in to an outlet in the wall. Is there a more commercial looking/flush as possible application?

"Tivoli Tubing" is a good option. It is low voltage, and doesn't sag like rope lighting.

There are a variety of "clock hanger" or recessed receptacles available. Perhaps this would solve the problem of the plug sticking out?

The OP stated the plug is outside. Is it going to be in a damp or wet location by any chance? If so, you know what type of outlet cover will be required if you go with rope light. I agree with the Tivoli option for this one.

Tivoli looks pretty good. It will be in a damp location. There are several models avaliable, what would you recommend/have had experience with?

I've used the incandescent fastube (although it's been 25 or so years ago)

The stuff worked great, can be field cut to length, and was not that tricky to install.

I just did a deck with rope lighting under the railing, used low voltage rope lighting. It is 12V, used a malabu lighting transformer to power it. Works great. No problems with termination. I drilled thru the 4x4 post. There is no wiring showing. They also make low voltage LED rope lighting. Robert

I discovered today that the wall is going to be a monolithic pour (concrete) and it will be capped with some sort of large bull nosed stone. The stone will over hang the wall and they are going to rout out a section that the rope lighting will go into. I'm sure that will look great. However, I have a hang up with how I'm going to go from a j-box to the rope lighting. The j-box will probably be horizontal and just under the over hang on the wall section. I'm not sure how to make this look manufactured.

I know it probably violates the listing but I have seen them cut off the plug if a rope set, route it out of a box KO through a cord connector and wirenut it to the branch circuit conductors in the box.
The solution looked safer to me than any other option I could think of. Glad it wasn't my call.
