Hi All.

I have a "baldor" motor, rated-HP= "spl" (special) for a compressor.
115/230 V-- 15A @115V
2 caps (start and run) 1 is missing.
the one that is there is a 125V 270-324 UF (small- (run?))
The larger one is missing (start?)
How could or can I determine the missing size?

I have not done a good search yet, and am hoping to learn somthing.

Thanx Lee

Typically, when the capictance is marked as a range it is a start capacitor. Run caps typically have a definate value stamped on them. They are also typically larger than start caps. Unfortuneately, I would have no idea as to how to guess the right value cap to use. Contact Baldor and give them the model number of the motor. They may be willing/able to help you.

Thanx, My first thought was the larger of the 2 was start.

Interesting, now that it's mentioned, it makes sence.
