I was just wondering if a luminaire says use type A lamps and you use a CFL is there some liablity if there is a fire. I personaly think that a lawsuit is what you will be looking at if the luminaire does'nt list the lamp. thay will say it doesnt say you can use those lamps and you didnt follow the instructions and you are liable.
What do you think.

OK John,
I can't really see that being a problem.
Look, the wattage rating of a given fitting is because of heat dissipation and the ventilation of that fitting.
Compact Fluorescent lamps run a lot cooler than their incandescent counterparts.
In fact 94% of an incandescent lamps output is heat as opposed to light.
What's more CFL's last longer too.
