the electrician grabs a chute, the AHJ is right on his back about it being old and non-compliant, out the door they go, quite comfortable in this day-to-day arrangement.

No, the electrician grabs a fish tape knowing it will get caught on something!

and....
knowing that statistically , there are more accidents using old and unmaintained chutes, the Oshaman simply opts to jump out!
