Report on Proposals for the 2005 Massachusetts Electrical Code

On September 9, 2004 the Advisory Committee will present the report on proposals for the 2005 Massachusetts Electrical Code to the Board of Fire Prevention Regulations (BFPR).

After receipt of the report by the BFPR, the report will be published and a hearing for final acceptance of the MEC will be scheduled.

According to Massachusetts General Law interested parties can address the board directly at the public hearing or by written comment.

Comments are not limited to the MEC Advisory Committee Report. Any matter regarding the electrical code can be brought up.

It is not certain at this time when the hearing will take place, but it appears that it may be at the November 4, 2004 BFPR meeting.

Any interested parties may submit comments to Peter Senopoulos, Legal Counsel, Board of Fire Prevention Regulations, PO Box 1025, State Road, Stow, MA 01775, no later than October 7, 2004.

Comments should include: Submitter's name, affiliation, address, telephone number, section/paragraph in question, MEC proposal number (if applicable), comment (include proposed new wording, or identification of wording to be deleted) and statement of problem and substantiation for comment.

Note: State the problem that will be resolved by your recommendation; give the specific reason for your comment including copies of tests, research papers, fire experience, etc. Send a copy to William Laidler, Chairman, MEC Committee, 168 Dillingham Way, Hanover, MA 02339-1436.
