What is the mosty cost effect way to wire a Park?? Since voltage Drop is so great The only way I can come up with is several Panels in Different areas with feeders back to the main building Then to the feeders to the Local breakers and outlets.551.77 prohibits Back to Back outlet locationa also. Is there a standard witdth required for theses sites>??

The best way is to let the utility do the work at medium voltage with transformers servine a few sites apiece like they do on residential streets. Long runs with 240/120 is always going to be a copper mine.

Ernie- I thought the State was responsibie for the infrastructure of this type of installation? I think I'd agree with Greg on this one- The utility can probably do it easier than you. Of course if your getting paid to do it that's a diferent story. Keep me posted.

I imagine the "park" he is talking about is a privately owned RV park. I did several of these that were state owned when I was inspecting. When you actually put pen to paper the size of wire you need at 240v is mind boggling. Most of these new RVs have 50a cords on them and they can use almost every stinking amp of that. Some have 2 big HVAC systems on the roof and every electrical doodad a person would have at home. The parks were originally wired for campers who just wanted a NEMA 5-15 to run a fan, a light and maybe a TV. The state came to the conclusion the only way they could effectivly cover the distances involved was with MV and they deferred to the utility to own that equipment.
