I have a house to wire and it has bedrooms upstairs, but on the slab level next to the garage there are two rooms. Just rooms. Are these considered bedrooms or what? What should I do? Call the Ahj and ask him?

Hi,
Do't you know what the rooms will be used for? Ask the HO?

what matters is what they were designed for..not what they MAY be used for in the future.

Around here, if the plans don't specify(plans? what plans?) wether it's a bedroom or not, the presence or lack of a closet is the determining factor. If there's a closet in a bedroom size room, it's a bedroom.

There's another requirement in the building code. In the 2000 IRC there needs to be a window or other means of egress. The size and sill height is very specific. If it doesn't have the proper egress it can't be called a bedroom!

Ask the designer. Have them put it in writing.
