Need some information on electric snow melting equipment as used in sidewalks and driveways. Are there any type that don't require GFPE? Web sites would be useful.

George,
The only electric sidewalk snow melting equipment that does require GFP is that made from MI cable.
Here is one source.

Don - I think you've miss read the reference for GFPE protection. The site makes reference to their product as MI cable with a "plastic" type covering. NEC '02 says that MI cable does not need GFPE protection. 426.28. Please double check for me.

George,
My post is wrong. It should read.
"The only electric sidewalk snow melting equipment that does require not GFP is that made from MI cable.
Sorry.
